The Sophia Institute is pleased to have Meghan Don return to us to offer this very special session on presence, grief, and love. It’s work that we know Meghan does so authentically.
Here’s what Meghan plans for us:
“Your soul knows how to die in this life, and how to be with the dying.
Your soul knows how to grieve, and how to let a life go — yours or someone else’s.
Your soul knows how to continue the eternal love song with those who have gone before you.” – Meghan Don
Join Meghan Don as she presents rich personal stories and soul reflections from her new book, Presence: Bringing the Soul into Dying and Grieving, A Memoir and Guide. Meghan has guided those who are dying, and their families, for many years, opening the way for their inner soul wisdom to be present. She draws on Sophian and ancestral wisdom, along with contemplative practices including chants, prayers, and meditations, empowering individuals to remember the sacred way of dying. She says, “We all once knew how to die — how to die into life and into death. Now we simply need to remember.”
Meghan also guides souls into the other realms, opening the way for their onward journey. Simple practices can help a soul in transition. All souls need a helper for their journey. You too can become a helper.
We will begin with an exploration of the question, “What is Presence?” Often society, including spiritual communities, creates buzzwords that are repeated but not embodied. Meghan says, “Words are living energies. We need to honor them, sit with them, befriend them, and allow them to embody us as we embody them.”
You will be guided into a Presence meditation, opening the way for your inner soul presence to be felt and for your human self to be acknowledged exactly as you are in this moment. In this meditation, you will open to your soul wisdom and discover what you most need to know at this time. Perhaps you are grieving the loss of a life you once lived and believed would continue. Perhaps you are mourning a loved one. Or perhaps you are questioning your life path at this time. Your soul presence will guide you.
We will also invoke, through chant and prayer, the Energy of Comfort (also known as the Angel of Comfort) and the Divine Mother of Tenderness. Together we will receive what is ours to receive and extend these energies into the world and into the next world for souls in need.
We all need Comfort and Tenderness, especially now. These simple practices are suitable for both our living and our dying — in this life and into the other realms.
This masterclass will help you:
- deepen your sense of soul and loving presence
- allow your human self to be acknowledged without trying to fix it
- open to greater energies of Comfort and Tenderness
- learn simple practices and prayers for dying into life and into the next realm
In the unfolding journey of dying, love’s enduring presence is revealed, embracing all who enter its path.
What others are saying about the book, Presence:
“In Presence, story, meditation, and reflection are gently woven together, creating a space where you can soften, listen, and be held. Each page invites a deepening—into stillness, into tenderness, into the quiet wisdom of the soul that lives beneath fear and loss. This is not only a book, but a companion for the heart: luminous, wise, and deeply human. It meets you where you are and, with grace, guides you toward a more spacious way of being with what is most difficult and most sacred. A truly radiant offering.”
— Mirabai Starr, author of Ordinary Mysticism and Wild Mercy
“Meghan Don’s writing, imbued with great sensitivity to the sacred processes of dying, healing, grace, and grief, is a true gift to the world. It offers a quiet light in difficult times, drawing you inward to your own deep wisdom, and illuminating the beautiful, ancient rite of dying with reverence and care. Meghan is a guide you can trust, and her words feel especially vital now: ‘Presence invites you to listen deeply, from the whole of your body, not just your mind or heart. It invites you to listen from the entirety of your being.’”
—Dr. Joan Borysenko, Ph.D. NY Times bestselling author
